The City of Elliot Lake says the foundation work on Rogers Arena is nearing completion.
According to the release, the micro pile work on the facility’s foundation is now finished with the remaining concrete work scheduled to be completed within the next few weeks.
The completion of that work is considered a major milestone as the city moves forward on the other rehabilitation that must be completed.
A consulting firm on the project has been coordinating the remaining design.
To accelerate the schedule, the lead firm on the project will be proceeding with the exterior wall reconstruction before Christmas to be ready for the exterior insulation and finish installation.
Officials say this will allow for an insulated and enclosed building for interior work to commence during the winter months.
If all goes well and on schedule, the arena could be reopened by early 2026.
