Rogers Arena reconstruction on schedule for 2026 – Rogers signs off on signage

Work is progressing on the Rogers Arena in Elliot Lake, and according to the lead architect on the project, is on schedule for a tentative re-opening in September of this year.
Chris Perry of Perry & Perry Architects told council at its last meeting of 2025, that the work on Rogers Arena is on schedule, adding the Rogers family has signed off on the signage and exterior of the structure.
Perry adds he has also talked to Jeff Jarmevitch, the owner of the Junior A team, the Vikings, reassuring him they are doing everything to ensure the team can play in the arena this fall.
Council also heard a work crew stayed on site throughout the holiday removing the bleachers and Zamboni room, which did not meet code, installing knee braces to shore up the trusses, and preparing the interior for a complete rebuild.
Perry says the contractors will now focus on the lobby, change rooms and other interior features in January.
He stresses the project is on time and on schedule and will provide another update to council this month.
