Student Senate hosts Stand Up for Equity and Inclusion Virtual Conference

The Rainbow District School Board Student Senate is hosting the Stand Up for Equity and Inclusion Virtual Conference.

Students from all secondary schools across the Sudbury and Manitoulin districts will participate in the virtual event today, says Ava Lafrance, a student trustee with the board.

She says the conference will have a variety of speakers including Espanola High principal Kristina Rivard Gobbo speaking on Poverty, and varied topics from inclusivity to cultural awareness, human rights to social justice, and more.

Anthony Johnson, a two-spirited and diversity expert will discuss equity issues within LGBTQ2+ and Indigenous communities.

Johnson and his partner were crowned winners of the Amazing Race Canada Season 7 and have become internationally recognized for their advocacy efforts.
