Stay safe while camping with the MNRF’s Bear Wise campaign

The MNRF and the province are taking its Bear Wise campaign one step further this summer to make sure northerners are staying safe. The campaign is tackling how to stay safe while camping.

Looking for signs of any bear activity, storing food effectively, sticking to well-travelled areas and burning food scraps are all great deterrents. The Bear Wise initiative was put forth by the MNRF to combat the rise in bear-human interactions, especially in northern Ontario.

If you do spot a bear in your community or property which may pose a threat you’re asked to call police immediately, for any other reports you can head to the Bear Wise website or call the MNRF directly.
