LNHL Elder passes away

George “Chauffeur” Aldric Francis of Whitefish River Nation has passed away. The LNHL Elder was 73, and passed away at the Espanola Hospital over the weekend. Francis worked on the Little NHL tournament for 45 years, and as a miner for INCO for over 30 years.

Francis was an elected member to Whitefish Chief and Council, and was the recipient of a Union of Ontario Indians Lifetime Achievement Award. Francis is survived by his wife and four kids. There is going to be a community gathering at 7:00pm tonight at the Whitefish River First Nation Community Hall. The funeral is tomorrow at 12:00pm at the hall.
