France Gelinas, the MPP for Nickel Belt, wants to introduce a petition to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario implement a rare disease strategy.
She says Ontarians living with a rare disease wait years to receive a diagnosis without any plan for treatment to help them.
Gelinas stresses Ontario currently lacks a rare disease strategy, which has left those who are living with rare diseases without access to the care they need
She adds the Rare Diseases Working Group Report was submitted to the Government of Ontario in 2017 with important recommendations, which have never been implemented.
She says she is launching a petition to present to the government to pass the Rare Disease Strategy Act, tabled by herself and MPP Lennox, and implement the recommendations that came out of the report.
