Sudbury man arrested and charged with assault on Massey’s Haunted Trail

A Sudbury man is facing assault charges following several incidents on Massey’s Haunted Trail, an event organized by the Massey Agricultural Society.
According to Manitoulin OPP Constable Berkley Parisien the 39-year-old man from Sudbury attended the trail where the incidents took place, and a volunteer was allegedly assaulted.
She says officers made the arrest after a report of multiple assaults involving young people at the event, and elsewhere in the town.
The accused has been charged with three counts of assault, and one count each of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, causing a disturbance and resisting a peace officer.
Society treasurer Dianne Emiry says following the incident, security guards were hired this past weekend adding their organization is run by volunteers and the 30 or so working the trail deserved to be safe and treated with respect.
She adds last year, funds raised allowed the society to donate more than $5,000 to several community groups, including the local foodbank, seniors, the local museum, Legion and others.
She adds this year, families came in droves, including a record-breaking 900 attendees last Saturday night adding the funds raised will once again go towards supporting various local organizations in need.
