Any band member of Serpent River First Nation has until six pm this evening to have their nomination in place for the election of Chief and Council.
Electoral Officer Scott Jacobs says so far there are two people running for chief, Dolores Theresa Labelle and Caroline Meawasige, and 24 candidates for council.
He says the general election will be held on November 21st adding the poll at the band’s administration office will be open from nine am until eight am for voting.
Jacobs adds mail-in ballots will be sent out to off-reserve band members this week, October 22nd and must be returned by election day to be counted in the final vote.
