Jamie and Jo-Ann Armstrong’s Centennial Arena Fundraising Challenge final push

The Jamie and Jo-Ann Armstrong Centennial Arena Fundraising Challenge has entered the final days of the overtime period with a push to hit $1 million dollars.

Lara Hukezalie, president of Elliot Lake Minor Hockey, says the current fund total is $850,000 including the $250,000 coming from Kraft Hockeyville.

She adds donations will be accepted until the Hockeyville Community Celebration set for Friday September 27th.

Hikezalie says work is underway with the hopes of an opening date in the fourth quarter of 2024.

Donations can be made at city hall or online at elliotlake dot ca (elliotlake.ca/arenadonation).

The Centennial Arena was closed in September 2023 due to concerns about the structural integrity of the building she recalls adding this meant that the 2023-2024 seasons for minor hockey, figure skating and Jr A hockey had to be played out of town causing hardship for parents and organizations.
