Espanola & Area Epidemic Overdose Committee preparing for third annual walk

Espanola & Area Epidemic Overdose Committee preparing for third annual walk
The Espanola & Area Epidemic Overdose Committee is in the final stages of organizing its third annual walk.
Co-chair Linda Collins says a presentation will be made to Espanola council at its August 13th meeting to proclaim International Drug Awareness Day, and to allow for the raising of a flag at the town hall.
The committee is also asking for council to defer the rental fee for the pavilion where the Espanola Lions Club will host a complimentary barbecue and the committee will have several keynote speakers.
Co-chair Rosalind Russell says the walk itself will be held at 11 am on August 31st finishing at the Red McCarthy Pavilion.
She says the gathering will include introducing the new Nar-anon support group as well as a demonstration of the use of naloxone.
Collins and Russell say the public, especially families dealing with overdose situations, are invited to attend and take in the walk and demonstrations adding this is not a fundraiser, so any donations will be presented to the Espanola Helping Hand Food Bank.
A huge shout out to our supporting businesses, organizations and speakers … we will have more on this event closer to the date!
