Elliot Lake is the last municipality to give its approval to entering a court services agreement with the Town of Espanola.
Espanola administers the court procedures for the Provincial Offences Act in their court facilities located at the municipal office including Espanola, Elliot Lake, Blind River, Spanish and the Township of the North Shore.
With approval of the motion last night, all signatories have been obtained to move forward on the five-year agreement.
The various municipalities cover the costs based on population with Elliot Lake paying nearly $28,000 a year plus cost-of-living adjustments.
The Town of Espanola oversees the main POA office plus all related court and legal services on behalf of the other municipalities as the lead within the agreement.
