Two local area women are joining a third in Indigenous studies at Laurentian University.
Professor Nicole Wemigwan is from Serpent River First Nation and Wiikwemikoong Unceded Territory and Professor Sharlene Webkamigad also originally from Wiikwemikoong, join Professor Adria Kurchina-Tyson of Sudbury in being hired to the School for Indigenous Relations tenure-track faculty.
All three are finishing up PHDs and share the belief that the continued inclusion of Indigenous and First Nations perspectives across programs is essential to the University’s identity and is valuable to prospective faculty and students.
They have already begun working together.
