A young person from Wikwemikong has been charged with attempting to commit murder.
Manitoulin OPP says last Friday evening, officers with the OPP and the Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service responded to a call in Wikwemikong Unceded Territory after someone told police they could hear people screaming.
Officials say upon arrival, police found two people suffering from stab wounds and the effects of bear spray, adding the suspect had fled the scene.
The victims were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and later released.
Officials say after an investigation, a 16-year-old person from the community is facing several charges including attempting to commit murder, assaulting an officer, uttering death threats, assault with a weapon and more.
The accused is in custody awaiting an appearance in Gore Bay Court in July. Police say the investigation is ongoing and updates will be provided when available.
