Signing ceremony for provincial park north of Elliot Lake

Mississauga First Nation, Serpent River First Nation and the City of Elliot Lake are hosting a signing ceremony with the province.

Elliot Lake city CEO Daniel Gagnon says a signing ceremony will take place next week on Tuesday with Ontario Minister of Environment, Parks and Conservation David Piccini attending.

He says the event will be held at the Mississauga First Nation Cultural Centre where Piccini will sign a new management agreement for the Mississagi Provincial Park with the newly formed Mississagi Park Foundation.

Gagnon emphasizes the unprecedented five-year agreement will establish a new partnership whereby two First Nations and the municipality are equal partners in operating the provincial park.

The Mississagi Provincial Park is located 20 minutes north of the city within Robinson Huron Treaty lands.
