The Anishinabek Police Service is receiving just over 1.1-million dollars from the province for modernization projects.
Across Ontario nine First Nations police services and 18 First Nations communities policed by the OPP are getting more than six million dollars.
The money is being used to purchase new technology, including mobile workstations, body cameras and automated license plate readers.
Solicitor General Michael Kerzner says the initiative will provide police officers and personnel with the tools they need to fight crime effectively and efficiently while in the field.
Local services receiving funding include the Anishinabek, United Chiefs and Councils of Manitoulin and Wiikwemkoong First Nation police services.
