East Algoma OPP investigating hit and run

East Algoma OPP is investigating a hit and run that involved a skateboarder in Elliot Lake early Tuesday morning.

Constable Phil Young says police were called out a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian and an SUV on Hillside Drive South shortly after midnight.

He says the skateboarder was making their way past the entrance of Canadian Tire when a red SUV pulled out of the parking lot, struck the pedestrian and then left the scene.

Young says the driver is described as an older female in her sixties with medium blonde and white hair and wearing a blue and green shirt.

He adds the licence plate was too faded to read.

Young adds the pedestrian was treated for their injuries at the hospital and released.

He says anyone with information is asked to call police

Any person with information regarding this motor vehicle collision is asked to contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit information online at www.sudburycrimestoppers.com  where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2000.
