Charges after crash involving pick-up truck and bicycle

A 56-year-old Blind River resident is facing several charges after a collision on Village Road in the community of Mississauga First Nation. 

Ontario Provincial Police with the East Algoma Detachment responded to the crash between a pick-up truck and bicycle just after 9:30 pm on Sunday, July 17. 

Police say the truck fled the scene after the collision with the victim taken to a local hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Four charges have been filed including dangerous operation causing bodily harm, failing to stop after an accident, obstructing a peace officer and driving while under suspension.  

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on September 1.
