The splash pad installation in Espanola has been delayed, with public use also pushed back to spring 2023.
“This delay is due to issues in receiving Ontario engineering stamps for the facility’s mechanical components,” states a release from the town. “The Splash Pad manufacturer and installation company, ABC Recreation, is based out of Quebec, and has been unable to provide the required Ontario stamps ahead of the original and revised project delivery dates.”
The town says with backlogs for engineering review across the province, they’ve been advised the requirement will delay the installation of the splash pad to September, instead of next month.
Officials add that in order to ensure the warranty period on the equipment is only activated when consistent public use of the facility is possible, the opening of the Splash Pad will take place in the spring of 2023.
