Billings Township council held an in-depth discussion about whether the municipal fire hall should be retrofitted or torn down and a new one built.
Council considered several different options at their meeting last week taking into consideration staff recommendations and an engineering report prepared by Tulloch Engineering.
The report outlined options including renovating at a cost of $556,250; demolishing and construction of a new one of the same size at a cost of $845,000; or constructing a larger facility fire hall at another site for just over $1,7 million.
The additional costs site services would add about another $350,000 would be required with none of the costs including design plans or applicable taxes.
It was also noted there is no funding available at this time for such projects.
Council plans to hold further discussions and a decision is not expected in the short term.
