Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory and Sagamok-Anishnabek First Nation are both dealing with COVID19 outbreaks.
Wiikwemkoong Gimaa Duke Peltier says as of yesterday, the community now has two more cases, bringing the total to seven, and that is considered community spread.
To stop it, he is asking the entire community to stay home, stay within their household bubbles, and do not go shopping adding the local schools have also been closed.
He adds if any community member needs assistance or other essential items, they can contact Ontario Works and the crisis response team is also available 24/7.
Sagamok-Anishnabek First Nation is reporting 20 confirmed cases as of yesterday, ten more than Monday.
Community members are strongly encouraged to follow COVID19 protocols including staying home unless travel or shopping is necessary, staying within their social bubbles, wearing masks and washing hands.
A crisis hotline has also been set up for community members needing supports.
If anyone needs testing, they are asked to book an appointment at the Espanola hospital’s COVID19 clinic.

Still with the story, Algoma Public Health is reporting twenty-nine new cases of COVID-19 and 16th death related to COVID-19 all in the Sault Ste. Marie area.
There are currently 378 active cases in the district with nine people hospitalized.
Public Health Sudbury & Districts is reporting 292 active cases and Health Sciences North says it currently has 31 people admitted for COVID with seven individuals in intensive care.
