Dollars to help tourist operations

The Ford government is spending 100-million dollars to help the tourism industry, hard-hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tourism Minister Lisa McLeod says the cash will be distributed to businesses in the industry that have suffered at least a 50 per cent drop in revenue since the pandemic began.

Businesses eligible for the new Tourism Recovery program include accommodations, ski centres, theatres, and amusement parks.

Applications will be accepted beginning October 13th.

Algoma Manitoulin MPP Michael Mantha, says the funding is long overdue and should be made available faster.
