Espanola council working on budget

A number of local projects have been given preliminary approval by Espanola council, barring the upcoming municipal budget.

A dog park and the development of a pickle ball court are all on the table for discussion.

Members of council generally agree to review the items as part of the budget process but are keeping in mind that the budget is already sitting at a 3.3 percent increase.

Deputy Mayor Bill Foster says one percent is equal to about $80,000, so the cost of the projects will be taken into consideration.

Council will host another budget meeting next week and is hoping to finalize the document soon.
