Improvements planned for two Elliot Lake schools

The Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board is initiating its multi-year plan to improve both of its schools in Elliot Lake.

Board chairwoman, Rose Burton Spohn says this summer alone, there will be $2 million set aside for improvements to Our Lady of Fatima and Our Lady of Lourdes.

The plans are for each school to receive approximately $1 million in improvements this summer to improve kindergarten classes and play areas, as well as a new dedicated washroom for the school’s youngest students.

In addition, the main student and staff washrooms will be updated, and universal access washrooms will be added in each school in compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.

It is the first phase of several improvements planned over the next few years.
