Cambrian College offers free PSW Program as part of provincial initiative

Cambrian College is joining a province-wide initiative to meet an urgent demand for more Personal Support Workers.

College President Bill Best says the Ontario government announced funding for an accelerated PSW program that will cover students’ tuition and supplies costs, and provide a paid placement in the

community as part of the curriculum.

The accelerated PSW program at Cambrian will feature three intakes and allow students to graduate with full credentials within six months.

The program will begin accepting applications in early March, with a target of 8,000 additional PSW graduates across Ontario by the end of the year.

The other intakes will be on April 5th, May 10th, June 14th,

It will use a hybrid model that combines online learning with in-person practical experience.

Students in the program will complete courses online and participate in laboratory classes available at the Barrydowne campus and actual in-care settings.

Students will also receive a paid work placement.

Graduates will be prepared to enter the workforce at the end of six months.
