Elliot Lake and CUPE union ink new deal

CUPE Local 170 and the City of Elliot Lake have ratified a new five-year collective agreement retroactive to January 2019.

City CAO Daniel Gagnon says union members ratified the deal last Thursday with 94 percent voting in favour.

He adds council unanimously passed the collective agreement bylaw on Monday evening.

Gagnon says there had been a delay with both parties undertaking a review of job classifications and descriptions, as well as salaries.

He says once that work was completed the deal was inked including wage increases and pay equity adjustments.
