There is a bit of a jump in positive COVID-19 cases in the Sudbury District over the last 24 hours.

Public Health Sudbury & Districts is reporting nine new cases, all in Greater Sudbury, bringing their total to 142.

The agency states two are being attributed to community spread while the other seven are due to close contacts.

Meanwhile, the Public Health Agency of Canada is trying to order more influenza vaccine, as the demand for inoculations skyrockets across
the country.

The federal government has ordered a record 13.9-million doses for this flu season, but several provinces have asked for
more.

Government health officials have been telling Canadians to get a shot, to avoid the double threat of coming down with the flu
and coronavirus.

However, the federal agency says the vaccine is usually not manufactured after October, so any additional doses for Canada will
have to come from countries with an over-supply, or from batches ordered by Canada produce more vaccine than expected.
