Manitoulin OPP recognizes Crime Prevention Week

Two key property protection programs are the focus of Manitoulin Island OPP during Crime Prevention Week.

OPP Constable Wendy Forcier says this year’s theme, “Serving Ontario, Protecting Communities” is timely for the officers.

She says officers will be educating the public about the Lock It or Lose It program, which encourages vehicle owners to take some simple steps to protect their valuable, such as making sure their vehicle is locked and to not leave personal items exposed.

She says that program is paired with Safeguard Ontario, a property security program providing tips on how to protect property or small business.

This week-long promotion of crime prevention is supported by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police, the Ministry of the Solicitor General and police services across Ontario.
