Assisting the vulnerable with grocery shopping – Espanola YIG

Tanner’s Your Independent Grocers has had to modify its hours as per government instructions due to the coronavirus, but the owner is also making sure seniors get what they need.

Like his counterparts across the country, Tanner Lafreniere, the owner of the Espanola outlet, says seniors will be the only ones allowed access every morning except Sunday to shop in safety.

He says they are the most vulnerable segment of the population, so shopping in a safe environment is important to him and his staff.

Lafreniere adds the store will open Monday to Saturday at 7:00 am for one hour for seniors with Sunday being the only exception.

He emphasizes the store will open for regular customers from 8:00 am Monday to Saturday, Sunday at 10:00 am.

He adds there is no charge for plastic bags, but anyone bringing their own, must bag their own groceries for safety reasons and no water cooler refills are being accepted at this time.
