Espanola mayor speaks of successes over last four years

Espanola’s mayor believes the town is in a better financial position today as a results of council’s actions over the past four years.  Mayor Mike Lehoux says The Town of Espanola was spared of significant tax increases due to the attentiveness of both Council and staff regarding the ARB decision on Domtar’s Assessment Appeal.  Lehoux highlighted some accomplishments council has achieved over the past four years including a 23.5 percent tax decrease and increased reassessment and decreased residential ratios provided for tax increases to be less than 1% for the last 2 years.  Also during this term the 2010 debt level decreased from over $10 million to just under $8 million projected for the end of this year.
