A tour of the City of Elliot Lake has led to MP Marco Mendicino, Parliamentary Secretary to the Federal Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, declaring the city is in crisis in regards to its infrastructure.
Mendicino told council yesterday he can well believe with the deterioration of the arena, pool, and collapse at the local centre, that Elliot Lake could potentially see the loss of life and vital structures.
Mendicino says there are two streams of funding available, but the Ford government is not cooperating.
The City of Elliot Lake needs support from the other two levels of government in order to secure funding to build a new sports hub and rehabilitate other structures in the city.
