The Ontario Minister of Infrastructure, Monte McNaughton, has provided some direction to Elliot Lake council in its application process for infrastructure projects.
The city wants to build a new Community Hub and also have to deal with the loss of a portion of the civic centre, which housed the local live theatre and museum.
Elliot Lake Mayor Dan Marchisella met with McNaughton in Toronto on Monday detailing the challenges the city faces in regards to aging structures and facilities.
He says the minister provided direction about applying for funding, including time-lines and detailing requirements.
Marchisella was cautiously optimistic while updating council at the regular meeting last night.
