A solar farm adjacent to the municipal landfill site in Blind River may be causing problems in the water table.
The Ontario Ministry of Environment has written a letter to the Town stating the solar panel site was not designed properly in regards to how water is flowing into the landfill area, especially during storms or heavy rain.
The engineering of the sites should have included a storm water management system, so the ministry wants an action plan put into place and expects a response by May 31st.
An inspection of the site will be carried out at the end of the month as the first step to address the ministry demands.
