CAO reports to Elliot Lake council re. Lester B. Pearson Civic Centre collapse

Engineers are expected to make a report to the City of Elliot Lake about the collapse at the Lester B. Pearson Civic Centre.

City CAO, Dan Gagnon, told council last night, Tulloch structural engineers were on scene by noon on Friday and the Ministry of Labour is also investigating.
The Ministry did allow Tulloch to enter the building on Friday strictly to observe and report on the state of the building outside of the theatre area.
While they do their work, the city focus will be on three key areas: resuming municipal services; meeting with all building tenants later this week and reopening other facilities.

A Barrie firm with an 85-foot boom is to arrive today and clean off the Collins Hall roof, then the pool, last the arena.

Gagnon adds counselling services are also available for anyone who needs them through the Counselling Centre of East Algoma.
