Swim meet results in Elliot Lake

The Elliot Lake Aquatic club hosted the NEOR#3 Developmental meet this past weekend. The event saw 31 local swimmers combine with 56 members of the Sault surge, Valley east, Nickel City and Sudbury Laurentian Swim clubs. The pool was kept abuzz with many personal bests attained. For some having the home pool advantage allowed them to overcome first meet jitters.

Ethan Young certainly used the pool to his advantage earning top spot in many of his swims, including a 400m freestyle, shaving 45seconds off his personal best. Ethan finished his 50m freestyle in 38.17 sec. truly astounding. Equally memorable was his 1^st place finish for his 200m freestyle swim in 3:11.64.

Leiya Fortin earned 2^nd place for her 100m breast and freestyle events.  Her efforts in her 200m breaststroke earned topspot in 3:28.09.

Theo Parsons also swam to full potential finishing 1^st in his 200m breaststroke, 100m Individual medley, and with the tight competition 2^nd in his 100m Breaststroke and 50m freestyle events.

Mckenzie Ryan used her skills and speed earning top spot in each of her 400m Freestyle, 50m Fly, 200m Freestyle and her 200m Fly events. Boy that girl can fly and be free.

Similarly Tie Ryan proved his skills were worthy of a podium. He earned 1^st and 2^nd place finishes all weekend. Particularly for his 100m Breaststroke which he finished 1^st, shaving 10.39 seconds from his PB. Also earning top spot was his 50m and 200m Breaststroke events. His 50m and 100m Freestyle swims earned him both a 2^nd place finish.

Avery Stirling swam strong in both her backstroke events. Finishing 1^st in her the 50m and 200m lengths. Her 100m Backstroke was outmatched by fellow ELAC’er Emma young, leaving Avery in second place. Home pool colours meant for many competitive finishes.

Madison Yorke was very consistent throughout the weekend. Finishing in 3^rdin her 200m Backstroke and 50m Freestyle events. Her efforts in her 200m Individual medley, 50m Backstroke and 400m Freestyle earned her 2^nd place times.

Ava Young certainly harnessed the home pool advantage, seeing top spot honors in each of her events. Swimming each discipline didn’t seem to alter her skills. 1^st in her 50m Fly, breast and backstroke to her 200m fly and even her 400m Freestyle swims. A real swimmer to be reckoned with in the northeastern region.

Another swimmer who showcased her skills this weekend was Emma Young. 1^st place finishes were too common for Emma. Fly, back, breast and free. She proved she was the swimmer to beat. From the 50m Fly to the 800m Freestyle, she was determined to finish first.

Alongside local swimmers were the spectators and families with camera and stopwatch in hand, but behind the scenes were as many as 60 volunteers.
