Annual ATV mud run doubles its revenue – over $10,000 going to MDC

The Fourth Annual Espanola Firefighters ATV Mud Run is one for the record books.

Not only did they have a record number of attendees, over 250 riders took part the weekend of September 22nd, they almost doubled the amount of money brought in for a great cause.

Firefighter Ryan Courtemanche says the organizers met last night and found out the final amount going to Muscular Dystrophy Canada this year is $10,500, almost double what the amount over each of the last three years since the idea was first brought to the association’s table for discussion.

The firefighters also acknowledge the contributions of many local businesses who donated to the prize board to make it a great weekend for everyone to get out and get dirty, including Boogie Mountain, which provided the host location.

Riders started out from the ski hill and wound their way through plenty of muddy trail towards House Lake and back.

With this year’s success, the volunteer firefighters have contributed a total of over $22,000 to the MDC.

The Moose was the official media sponsor of this year’s event and, on behalf of the organizers, extends a thank you to everyone who supported the run.
