Charges Laid in Fatality on Highway 17

The Sudbury OPP is continuing to investigate a fatal multi-vehicle collision and a Sudbury man is facing charges related to the incident.

OPP say the collision occurred around 5:00pm on Monday, May 28th on Highway 17 in Walden Township.

As a result, 31-year-old Michael Spencer of Sudbury was charged with manslaughter and two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm.

The accused appeared for a bail hearing in Sudbury court on June 11, 2018, and a publication ban is now in place.

There were four vehicles involved in the collision and the passenger of one of the vehicles, a 71-year-old woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Her name was not released to the public.
Three other people were transported to hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

The investigation is continuing.
