Elliot Lake mayoral candidate wants to reinvigorate retirement living concept

Elliot Lake deputy mayor Al Collett says the mall collapse two years ago was devastating but the community has to move forward.  Collett is the third mayoral candidate Moose News is looking at in our municipal election coverage series.  Collett says there’s so much negativity in the city that it’s destroying itself.  Collett says the town has to build but expectations have to be realistic.  He says if mining does return, it won’t be for a while yet.   And projects like Phase 2 of the cottage lot development are slow moving ahead.  He says what can help the community is a re-energized retirement living concept to make Elliot Lake affordable again for retirees.  And in discussing retirement living, Collett makes it clear he’s not talking about the management adding that has to change.   Next in our election coverage series Moose News talks to mayor Rick Hamilton.
