Isadore Day, the Ontario Regional Chief, says having the public understand how Indigenous people perceive treaties is critical to reconciliation. Day made the comment as Ontario holds its second Treaties Recognition Week this week. All this week First Nation leaders will visit schools and explain the history of treaties and what they mean. Day says some students may hear things they didn’t know about before.
