Ontario Announces Necessary Immunizations for All Students

As the new school year creeps closer, Ontario is reminding parents to ensure their children’s vaccinations are up to date.

The province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Williams says that the percentage of children with up to date immunizations needs to be at 100 per cent. Williams says that as of this September and new school year, a child will not be allowed to stay in school if their immunization records are not up to date.

He says the 16 contagious illnesses covered by Ontario’s vaccinations are what parents who decide against immunization are putting their own children at risk against. Beginning this September, all school boards within Ontario will not allow children who have not been vaccinated to attend school, unless they have a valid exemption.
