Northern Ontario Researchers Look to Cure Marijuana Faster

Research is being done on a new way to cure medical marijuana.

Canadore College’s Innovation Centre for Advanced Manufacturing and Production is working with a North American company to develop a more exacting process for curing.

Industry experts say they predict there won’t be enough cannabis plants produced to meet the demands that may come when recreational marijuana is legalized in 2018.

The research revolves around a “CureCap” and automated curing systems that works with glass mason jars. Canadore College says the CureCap simplifies the “burping” method of curing marijuana by automating the air release from glass jars and reducing the amount of errors associated with the technique.

The researchers are hoping to have the final version complete this fall so it can go on the market before the July legalization date.
