Thursday’s protest in front of Elliot Lake City Hall attracted about 50 people. Residents gathered to protest the lack of movement on the proposed Pearson Plaza. Rick Brothers, a 17-year resident, was one of the protestors and was clearly frustrated with city council. Brothers says the entire council has to go, from the mayor on down. Brothers says people are getting tired of shopping out of town to buy goods and that’s especially tough on the seniors. Except for vehicles moving around at the plaza site, no actual construction has started and it’s been like that for months. Residents are hearing that the earliest any activity will start up at the site is next May almost three years after the collapse of the Algo Centre Mall.
