A diamond drilling company has been fined $200,000 after one of its workers was killed by a falling tree near a Timmins mine site. The man was using a bulldozer to get to a parking lot when he stepped out of the unit and was hit by the falling tree. The tree, which was dead, weighed one ton. A court found Orbit Garant Drilling found guilty of failing to reasonably protect its workers. The worker was headed to his vehicle after his shift which was several kilometres away on a pathway that was soft and muddy. The fatal accident happened June 25th, 2014
