Government to Make Changes to Speed Up Court Times

The Ontario government is reducing the amount of time an accused has to wait before going to trial by hiring two new assistant Crown Attorneys.

The assistants will be based in Sudbury but will also help other centres in the northeast experiencing trial delays. Also in North Bay, the province is creating a new bail verification and supervision program.

The program helps support low-risk people before their trial begins.
