The watchful eye of an OPP officer in Elliot Lake who saw a man driving with studded tires has resulted in drug charges. Studded tires in the north have to come off by June 1st. When the officer saw the tires, he stopped the vehicle and got a strong whiff of marijuana coming from the inside plus he saw some drugs. A search of the vehicle produced hash oil, marihuana, 15 meth tablets and 68 oxycodone pills. The 27-year-old Elliot Lake man is looking at a charge of possession of cannabis resin and two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.
