Fedeli blaming the province for sluggish mining sector growth

A report from the Conference Board of Canada predicting very small growth for the north’s two largest city doesn’t surprise a Tory MPP. The board is forecasting growth of only one per cent for Thunder Bay and Sudbury this year and mining will continue to remain sluggish.

Vic Fedeli of Nipissing says this isn’t surprising and if anyone is looking to blame anyone, look no farther than the Wynne Liberals. He says they have made Ontario the most expensive jurisdiction in North American to do business. He says we have the highest energy rates in North America, and the highest payroll taxes in Canada.

Fedeli says although we don’t control metal prices, we can control the cost of what it takes to dig up ore deposits. But he says the Ontario Liberals continue to pursue policies that make it very expensive to do business in the province.
