Easter Seals has recognized the work of an Elliot Lake man who has lent his support to the organization through the Espanola/NorthShore Snowarama.
Carmen Bazinet, the program manager for Easter Seals Sudbury, drove to Elliot Lake last week for the ceremony to honour volunteer Leo Deveau at a ceremony at City Hall.
Two local children, Austin Francoeur, a three-year-old with cerebral palsy, and nine-year-old Liam Van Every, who faces challenges due to a genetic disorder of glycosylation, who both benefit from supports from Easter Seals, were also in attendance.
Following his retirement in 2019, Deveau focused his energy on supporting the Easter Seals having raised an historic $51,416 in the last six years.
Bazinet says his unwavering dedication is a source of inspiration for the wider community, serving as a reminder of the profound impact that one person can have on the lives of others.
