The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League has extended the Elliot Lake Vikings franchise’s leave of absence for the 2025-26 season.
League commissioner Robert Mazzuca says the leave is due to the continuing uncertainties as to when the Vikings’ home venue of Rogers Arena, formerly Centennial Arena, in Elliot Lake, will open again for use.
He says the league granted the initial leave in December of 2024.
Mazzuca adds that the NOJHL will operate with 11 teams for the upcoming season.
