The NDP Riding Association of Algoma-Manitoulin wants MPP Michael Mantha to resign following revelations about the sexual harassment that is said to have occurred at his constituency office two years ago.
In an open letter released Friday, riding association president Lynn Dee Eason calls on Mantha to resign.
She says last week, an independent investigation corroborated claims that Mantha repeatedly sexually harassed a female employee. (including pressuring her to engage in non-consensual sex and requesting she send him sexually explicit photos of herself).
Eason says the revelations are contained in an arbitration decision released August 8th, which reveals why Mantha was ousted from the Ontario NDP Caucus last year.
She states Mantha has stonewalled his way through the investigation and for two years has not taken accountability for his actions.
In a statement following the arbitration release, Mantha stated while the last two years have been challenging, it is time to move past this matter and on the advice of legal counsel will not make any further comment.
He has not responded to the association’s demand to resign.
