One person is dead after a crash on HWY 144 between a commercial motor vehicle and a Sports Utility Vehicle.
Nipissing West OPP Constable Rob Lewis says on Wednesday afternoon, police and emergency services were called out to the collision south of the Town of Cartier.
He says the driver of the SUV, a 55-year-old from Cartier, was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the driver of the commercial vehicle was transported to the local hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Lewis adds the highway was closed in both directions for nearly 14 hours adding the investigation continues.
