New name, branding and coach for Espanola’s NOJHL franchise

The Espanola franchise of the Northern Ontario Junior A has announced not only a name, logo and branding change but also a new coach.

Jason Rapcewicz, the owner of the team, says the new name is the Espanola Paper Kings, acknowledging the over 100 years of papermaking in the town.

He says along with the name change the new team logo and colours reflect that history in white, blue, green and gold.

Rapcewicz adds the team will now be headed by long-time coach, Marc Gagnon who spent the last five years overseeing the Huntsville Otters Junior C program.

He says he is excited to begin the new season with such a fresh start following the challenges of the pandemic and looks forward to Espanola fans cheering on their own when they host the Cochrane Crunch in their homeopener at the Espanola Regional Recreation Complex on Friday, September 9th.
